Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 (13+ launch) · Effective date: 9 October 2026 · Applies to the CampusNet mobile app (Android and iOS) and the CampusNet website and web app at www.campusnet.ai
CampusNet is a learning and school community platform for students of classes 8 to 12 aged 13 and above, teachers and schools in India. It is owned and operated by Orangetech Innovations Private Limited ("CampusNet", "we", "us").
This policy explains what personal data the CampusNet app and website collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses CampusNet: students, parents and guardians, teachers, and school staff.
In short
- We collect the details you give us to run your account and the features you use.
- We do not sell personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising.
- We do not track children or target advertising at them.
- CampusNet is for students aged 13 and above. Students under 18 need a parent or guardian's agreement for features that put them in contact with people outside their own school.
- You can see, correct, export and delete your data. See Deleting your account and data.

2.2 Data your school gives us
If your school uses CampusNet for school operations, the school may add or confirm records about its students and teachers: name, class and section, roll and admission numbers, parent or guardian contact, attendance, timetable, exam marks, and notices. A school or member may also record health and emergency details (blood group, known allergies, medical notes and an emergency contact). Health details are saved only with a recorded consent, are stored encrypted, and are visible only to the school roles that need them.
2.3 Data collected automatically
- Device and app information: device model, operating system, app version, language, and a push notification token.
- Sign-in and security records: date and time of sign-ins, the devices signed in to your account, and IP address.
- Usage information: which features and screens are used and when, notification opens, and error or crash information, used in aggregate to improve the service.
- Consent and audit records: the version of the terms and privacy policy you accepted, when you accepted it, and records of sensitive actions on your account.
We do not collect your precise (GPS) location, your contacts, your call logs or your SMS messages.
3. App permissions
The mobile app asks for a device permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can refuse or switch off any of them in your device settings; the related feature will then not work.
| Permission | Why the app asks for it |
|---|---|
| Camera | To take a profile photo, attach a photo to a post, book listing or support request, and to show video in a live session if you turn your camera on. |
| Microphone | To speak in a live session if you turn your microphone on. |
| Photos, media and files | To choose a photo or file you want to upload, such as a profile photo, resume or attachment. |
| Notifications | To send you alerts about your account, classes, messages, rewards and safety. |
| Motion sensor | Optional. Used only for on-screen motion effects if you switch them on. This data stays on your device. |
4. How we use data
We use personal data only for the purposes below.
- To provide the service: create and secure your account, sign you in, show your courses, tests, sessions, school information and community features.
- To keep students safe: work out whether a student is under 18, obtain and record guardian consent, moderate content, act on reports and prevent misuse.
- To run rewards and scholarships: calculate CampusPoints, review scholarship applications, and pay approved payouts to the bank account you gave us.
- To communicate with you: send one-time codes, service messages, notices from your school, and notifications you have not switched off. Safety and account security alerts cannot be switched off.
- To support you: answer questions and resolve complaints.
- To improve CampusNet: understand in aggregate which features are used, fix errors and plan improvements.
- To meet legal duties: keep required records, respond to lawful requests and enforce our terms.
We process personal data on the basis of your consent (or your parent or guardian's consent if you are under 18), and for the legitimate uses the law permits, such as meeting a legal obligation. We do not use personal data for third-party advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the types of parties below, and only as far as needed.
| Who | What and why |
|---|---|
| Other CampusNet users | The profile details and content you choose to make visible, as described in section 7. |
| Your school | If you are a member of a school on CampusNet, the school sees the records it needs to run classes, attendance and results for its own members. |
| Parents and guardians | A guardian receives the consent request for a student under 18, with a description of what they are agreeing to. |
| Service providers | Companies that work for us under contract and may process data only on our instructions: cloud hosting and sign-in infrastructure (Amazon Web Services), SMS, email and push notification delivery, security and bot protection, and app diagnostics. |
| DigiLocker | If you choose to verify your identity, you are handed to DigiLocker, which shares the result with us on your approval. |
| Banks and payment partners | Your account holder name, account number and IFSC are used to transfer an approved payout to you. |
| Scholarship providers and recruiters | Only when you apply for a scholarship, job or internship, the details in your application are shared with the organisation offering it. |
| Authorities | Courts, regulators and law enforcement, when the law requires it or to protect the safety of a user. |
| A successor business | If CampusNet is merged or acquired, data may pass to the new owner under the same protections. We will tell you first. |
6. Children and guardian consent
CampusNet is built for school students, so many of our users are under 18. We treat every student under 18 as a child under Indian law.
- We ask for date of birth when an account is created. A student with no date of birth on record is treated as under 18.
- A student under 18 needs the agreement of a parent or guardian before using features that involve contact with people outside their own school, the book marketplace, and job or internship applications.
- CampusNet is not for children under 13. We ask for date of birth at sign-up and do not create accounts for anyone under 13. If we learn that an existing account belongs to a child under 13, we put it on hold: the child cannot sign in and the account is not used until CampusNet opens to younger students. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to delete it instead.
- The parent or guardian gives one agreement that allows all of these features together, and can withdraw it at any time from the link in their confirmation message. Withdrawing pauses the features again.
- The guardian confirms their mobile number or email with a one-time code, reads what the agreement covers, and agrees or declines. No account or app is needed.
- The guardian can withdraw agreement at any time using the link in the confirmation message. The paused features then stop again.
- A guardian's contact details are stored encrypted, shown masked, never shown to schools, teachers or other users, and never used for marketing.
- We do not track children's behaviour for advertising, and we do not show targeted advertising to anyone.
- Scores and CampusPoints are never shown publicly, and we do not publish rankings of students.
Parents and guardians can ask us to see, correct or delete their child's data by writing to contact@orangetech.ai.
7. What other users can see
- Your name, profile photo, school, class or subject, and tagline can be seen by other signed-in users, depending on your discovery setting.
- Students can set who can find them: everyone, only people at their own school, or nobody.
- Your postal address, date of birth, contact details, bank details, identity documents, guardian details, scores and CampusPoints balance are never shown to other users.
- Posts, comments and listings are visible to the audience of the place where you post them. Chat messages are visible to the people in that chat.
8. How long we keep data
- We keep your account data for as long as your account is open.
- When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except what we must keep by law or need to resolve a dispute, prevent fraud or prove that consent was given.
- Records we keep after deletion include payout and payment records, tax records, guardian consent records, and security and audit logs. These are kept only for the period the law requires or permits, and are then deleted.
- Bank account numbers are stored encrypted and are shown masked everywhere in the app.
- If you joined the guest list but an account was never created, you can ask us to remove your entry at any time.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can ask us to delete your CampusNet account and the data linked to it at any time. There is no charge.
In the app or web app
- Sign in and open Settings.
- Go to Data & account and choose Delete my account.
- Confirm with the one-time code we send to your mobile number or email. Your account is closed and you are signed out at once.
Without signing in
Email contact@orangetech.ai from the email address on your account, or tell us the mobile number on your account, with the subject "Delete my CampusNet account". We will confirm it is you before acting. A parent or guardian can make the request for a student under 18.
What happens next
- Your profile, content and learning records are deleted or anonymised within 7 days, and you are signed out on all devices.
- CampusPoints already approved for payment are paid out first. Any other CampusPoints balance is cancelled.
- The records listed in section 8 are kept for the period the law requires and then deleted.
- You can also ask us to delete part of your data, such as your bank details, profile photo or resume, without closing your account.
10. Your rights and choices
You, or your parent or guardian if you are under 18, can:
- See and export your data: Settings → Data & account → Export my data.
- Correct your data: edit your profile at any time, including your date of birth.
- Delete your data: as described in section 9.
- Withdraw consent: for guardian consent, payout bank details and optional notifications. Withdrawing does not affect what was done before, and some features will stop working.
- Control notifications and visibility: in Notification Preferences and Privacy settings.
- Nominate someone to exercise your rights if you are unable to.
- Complain: to our Grievance Officer (section 14) and, if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Security
- Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers.
- Sensitive fields, including bank account numbers, guardian contacts and health details, are encrypted in storage and shown masked.
- Access by our staff is limited by role, and access to sensitive records is logged.
- You can see the devices signed in to your account and sign them out from Settings.
No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires. Please keep your one-time codes and password private, and tell us at once if you think your account has been misused.
12. Where data is stored
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers located in India (Amazon Web Services, Mumbai region). We do not store your personal data outside India. When we send you an SMS, email or push notification, the provider that delivers it handles only what is needed to deliver that message. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first and follow Indian law on cross-border transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as CampusNet changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept it again before you continue.
14. Contact and grievances
For any question, request or complaint about your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer, Sandhya Gupta. We acknowledge complaints promptly and resolve them within the time the law allows.
